OOTD // Granville Island

Tuesday, 11 November 2014

Hello there!
A week with no labs means I have a lot more time on my hands. I managed to get last week's lab reports done last week and they aren't even due for another week. Let's just say I am very happy about that! I decided to use my time wisely and go spend the day at Granville Island with my housemates. It's so lovely - definitely worth visiting if you are ever in the Vancouver area!

Jacket - Barbour (old)
Jumper - H&M
Skirt - ASOS
Boots - Dr. Martens
Scarf - New Look

I have been wearing my Barbour jacket non-stop since moving to Van (when I'm not in the lab of course - who wants to shove a Barbour jacket into a lab locker? Not this gal!) I bought it from Freeport about six months ago and it killed me that we had such a lovely summer and I couldn't wear it. Now it's getting to be 5 degrees during the day in Van I'm keeping nice and toasty with a shirt, jumper, Barbour and a scarf. This jumper is so long that I can wear it as a dress with leggings. However, I just paired it with my leather skirt because it's just a little bit too short to wear with just tights. It's so warm and cosy and definitely one of my fave buys this Autumn so far.

Can I just say, I never thought I'd see myself pairing a Barbour jacket with a leather skirt. It feels so wrong yet so right on so many levels.

Granville Island isn't actually an island, it's just a peninsular close to Downtown but it's full of little coffee shops, cafes, bars, resturaunts. independent shops and a public market that sells the most amazing looking food. It's not the cheapest place in the world but the views are pretty beautiful. There are the most amazing floating houses which all have balconies and flat roofs and I would do anything to have one of those houses. Could you imagine the parties?

It was a lovely way to spend a morning / early afternoon. It was just a really chilled morning with beautiful weather and I definitely will be coming back soon. So many of the bars looked cute with their fairy lights and lamps outside. I'm actually heading back next week for Liv's birthday - we're seeing Avenue Q and I'm so excited!

Have you been to Granville Island? What are your favourite places to head to? Let me know!

    1. I would suggest visiting Vancouver and going to Granville island for an afternoon/evening! It's not actually an island but a peninsula that you can walk to pretty easily from a bus stop. If you like a lot of hiking and beautiful sights Van is absolutely brilliant! Shopping isn't too bad and in the summer you can go to the beach. It is a lot of sightseeing though and very expensive museums (It's like $30-ish to go to the science museum!)

  4. Unfortunately no beaches for us, we are coming over to Vancouver in january when I am assuming it's going to be freezing. We already have a few plans, I've been googling what to do and see over there but haven't come across granville island, but I'll definately look it up and suggest it to my friends for one afternoon.

    1. Oh, it will be cold! It's already 3-7 degrees during the day and I'm tempted to get a ski jacket as a coat! It's definitely worth having a look at Granville island - there are so many cafes, restaurants and coffee shops and it is beautiful in the sunshine. They often have festivals going on too so have a look at what is going on before you head off :)

    2. I know, it was my friends idea to come January. I've got myself a nice warm coat for christmas so it shouldn't be too bad. Yeah we will, we're going to research everywhere before we go.
