LIFESTYLE // I'm graduating!

Wednesday 13 July 2016

Hello there!
I just thought I'd write a little post to exclaim my excitement that I will be graduating this summer. Even better, I'm graduating with a first class honours MChem (in Chemistry obv) and I could not be happier right now unless I had an unlimited budget to spend on ASOS.

All in all, it looks like all of the hard work over the past 4 years has been completely worth it. All of the late nights, early mornings, packets of biscuits, trees worth of paper, NMR tubes broken, meltdowns followed by an entire tub of ice cream and weeks spent in the library were for something. I have come from pretty poor A Level results to PhD candidate in just 4 years and it feels absolutely fantastic to prove everyone who said I couldn't do it wrong.

Remember, you can do absolutely anything if you put your mind to it. It will not always be easy, but it'll be worth it. You might need some help (I sure did) but if you persevere for long enough and really want it, you can do it. I had to ignore a lot of people to get where I am now. I had a lot of people telling me I shouldn't and couldn't study chemistry but here we are and I could not be happier about it.

A lot can happen in 4 years. If you had told me on my first day of university that I would move to one of the most beautiful cities in the UK for grad school I'd have probably spat my drink out at you. I'm not entirely sure how I got into this position but it's exactly where I want to be right now. I'm even more excited to see what happens next. If it's any more than half as exciting as the past 4 years I know I'll be in for an interesting ride.

So remember, you can do it, listen to your gut and know when to ignore everyone else.

Now it's time to go drink more Prosecco (I've already spent the past week celebrating but I'm going to go celebrate some more okay? Please don't judge me).

    1. Thanks lovely! Chemistry is a bit of a difficult language to learn, but once you have a background it makes more sense. It's like anything really (she says...!)
