OOTD // You don't own worries or a chest full of heartache

Friday 30 January 2015

Hello!
Yes, I know. This is my first outfit post in what feels like forever! I have very kindly asked Sam to take photos for me once a week so hopefully these will become more frequent! What's the point in dressing up for 3 hours worth of lectures at 8am if no-one apart from a few chemistry students are going to see it?

T-shirt - UEA RAG
Faux leather skirt - ASOS (similar here)
Boots - Dr Martens (old)
Cardigan - Primark

I'm not going to lie - I haven't been missing UEA all that much recently! Sorry - you shouldn't have allowed The Big Weekend to be in Norwich whilst I'm travelling. It's all your fault UEA ;)

Either way, I decided to wear my 'Oh UEA is Wonderful' t-shirt today because I needed a black tee and could not find my Reading Fest one anywhere. Okay, to be fair I had approximately 15 minutes to get dressed, do my make up and pack my bag this morning without being late for my lecture. Yes, a Starbucks breakfast was on the cards. No regrets.

I bought the skirt last August before I left for Van and this is the first time I have worn it - shock horror! I loved it but it's so warm I couldn't wear it September-November and by the time December rolled about I had finals and snow so it was pretty much a no-go then too. It's not really the sort of skirt that works with tights, unfortunately, so I really have had to wait for the right day to wear it. Apparently sleep deprived with lectures in the Physics building is the ideal day and I have never felt so liberated. A red leather skirt in a physics building? I bet they don't get that every day.
It also doesn't help that the weather has been absolutely beautiful recently. It's a good 5-10 degrees and seriously sunny and it's beautiful! I hear it's snowing in England and I think we may have just missed it here in Van. It looks like I got a ski jacket for nothing!

I just paired this look with my docs, purely out of having no other shoes that would work! I have three pairs of boots and three pairs of trainers out here but still not enough shoes. I still refuse to buy more but I want some new flats pronto. My cardigan is my new favourite thing and an absolute bargain from Primark. It was £13 and just the perfect slouchy cardie which dresses up jeans and a tee quite nicely. I have been wearing it pretty much non-stop since I picked it up over Christmas. I'm in love!

Lastly, can I just say that the obvious thing to do when you find abandoned furniture is to sit on it right? Sam really does know how to catch those candid moments.

So that's my first outfit post of 2015. Why did it take so long? How are you dressing for the weather right now? Let me know

  3. Great outfit! I wish I could rock a leather style skirt like that.

It's pretty darn chilly in London so I'm going for 'tights under trousers' warmth rather than anything lovelier ;)

  5. You look gorgeous girl! Absolutely love that skirt on you too. We have snow here in Essex but I think the sun is melting it away! I'm just worried about it being icey tomorrow :(

    1. Thanks lovely!
That would suck! I hate the day after the snow - everything always goes back to norming but it's not even normal. Good luck!

  9. Love this outfit, I know what you mean about dressing up to sit in lectures but why not! The skirt is perfect. It's so cold here i've been living in big knits and boots but i'm hoping it warms up soon!

    1. Thank you lovely! It's so tough dressing for lectures - I still can't get it quite right sometimes! I'd be boiling in big knits at the moment. Even my Barbour is causing me to sweat. It's just not right!

    1. Thank you! I feel that uni is the sort of place where you really can experiment with fashion a bit. Would I wear a red leather skirt to work? Probably not (unfortunately!)
