BEAUTY // Urban Decay: Naked 2

Friday 9 January 2015

Hello my lovelies!
Yes, that's right. I finally got my paws on a Naked palette. This has been a long time coming and after the most confusing few days before Christmas (of which my trust in Becky was at an all time low - no I did not believe her when she said that every store in Lakeside had sold out of the Naked palettes) I finally got my paws on this beauty. The girls were super lovely and picked this up for me for my 21st and I am so happy they did. This palette is just beautiful!

There are a wide range of shades with the main focus on the shimmer shades. There are a few matte shades, including Foxy, which are brilliant as bases and are still really easy to use. The shimmers are absolutely dreams to work with. They blend so well with minimum effort so that my eyeshadow is done in less than 90 seconds. It's the lazy girl's dream!

The main difference between the Naked 1 and 2 is the addition of a few more darker shades and taupes. I think this palette is slightly more versatile than the first and has much better packaging. Before Christmas I was going to buy myself the Naked 1 but never actually had the guts to go buy it. Now I have used this one I am very tempted to pick it up. Well, either that or one of the basics palettes. The shimmers here are beautiful but I'd love to experiment with some mattes now too!

I absolutely adore the brush given with the palette. It's lovely and soft and makes application so much easier - especially for adding a darker shade in the crease. I'm quite happy to see that Sephora sell the brush on it's own but I am tempted to venture out to the Real Techniques set. I have never had a proper eyeshadow brush like this one and it really does make the difference.

Of course, like any palette, there are shades that I use more often than most. At the moment I am loving YDK, Tease, Chopper and Bootycall. I wear Tease just on it's own. I love the shade. I have also been experimenting with darker eyes during the day recently and for that, a mix of Snakebite and Suspect is gorgeous. It's the sort of look that takes you from lecture to the pub with no touch up (especially with the primer!)

Overall, I'm super duper glad that I finally got my mitts on a Naked palette. It really has helped me experiment with eyeshadow more (although my lipsticks now feel neglected. If anyone has any suggestions for a lipstick to go with a nude eye from this palette I'm all ears!)

Have you tried the Naked 2 palette? What are your favourite combinations and tips? Let me know!

  1. This looks stunning - I've always wanted this palette! I was lucky enough to get the Naked 3 for Christmas and the shades in that are beautiful too and not something I would have ever chosen for myself! I think I need the rest now...

  3. I absolutely adore the Naked 2! I liked to use Verve and Snakebite together, Suspect and Busted and Tease and Busted for a smokey eye look. I actually really like the brush too and find that it applies and blends really well!

    1. Now I have it I'd say definitely pick it up. I was undecided for so long but it's 100 times better than the drugstore versions I have tried!

    1. I have been sticking to drug store brands for so long but now I have a few high end bits and pieces I understand the hype. My eyeliner however is dirt cheap - literally £1 and the best eyeliner ever! You don't need everything to be high end but some things are just better!

  8. I just purchased this as a little treat to myself while I was in Berlin and omg I'm in love, why I didn't buy it earlier I don't know! I've always just gone drugstore and thought they were pretty great but after trying this I want to say I'm never going back but my bank balance is screaming go back go back! haha.
But at least I have this beautiful palette to play with now! I'm loving YDK and Snakebite at the moment, but they're all lovely!

    1. I love the look of the Naked 3 but it's quite a warm toned palette and I really didn't think it would suit my skin tone. My little obsession with palettes is getting too much!
