LIFESTYLE // Current obsessions # 1

Sunday 20 January 2019

Hello there!

Two weeks in a row? I've really uploaded two posts in two weeks? I'm astonished. Whilst listening to a Body Balance playlist (71 to be precise) I thought I'd share a few of my obsessions over the past few weeks. Body Balance should be on here but I haven't done any this week and doubt I'll do any tomorrow because this week I have definitely slipped off the 'healthy choices' wagon.

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish (pink pepper and mint)
I'm really lazy when it comes to skincare. It's one of those things I know I should do but when I've overslept or am really tired, it's the first thing to go. Having a 5 stage skincare routine is incredibly overwhelming so I stick to a 3 step process which can be shortened to just 1 in a crunch. I've tried pretty much all of the different C&P scents and this one is top of the list for me. It's calming but energising and smells a little bit like Christmas - but not enough to make it a December only product. I'll be incredibly sad when this bottle runs out.

Off Menu with Ed Gamble and James Acaster
2018 was the year I tried to get into podcasts. I absolutely adore My Dad Wrote a Porno but with that coming to an end I really struggled to find another podcast I enjoyed listening to. I like things that are funny, not particularly realistic and attacking me through my bluetooth headphones telling me I need x in savings and 3 side hustles. Off Menu came to my rescue with their rambling about their favourite meal, criticism of the podcast structure and random stories that are nothing to do with food. I wish there were more episodes and I didn't have to wait an entire week for the next one!

The Finishing Touches by Hester Browne (currently 99p on Kindle!)
Hester Browne is probably one of my favourite authors and she never does any wrong in my opinion. Her books are funny, full of romance, realistic protagonists and well known landmarks that really absorb you into the middle of the story. I bought the book about a year ago when it was on offer and never got around to reading it. I thoroughly enjoyed it and am glad it was my first book of 2019.

Leighton Denny crystal nail file
This is one of those items I always admired and never purchased. I finally got the file for Christmas and love it. It's very precise and easy to use even for a girl who is awful at filing nails. You can use it both forward and backward so I find it a lot less awkward. I have a feeling I'm not going to stop painting my nails now I can shape them well.

Michael Kors Savannah Satchel
Last on my list is another Christmas present in the form of a handbag. My parents picked it up for me whilst they were in the States and I adore it! It fits so much in but isn't too bulky. It's my go-to bag at the weekend, especially if I'm going to be doing a lot of waiting around as it fits everything from my iPad, books and a bottle of water. I'm undecided whether to take it to a conference I'm at later in the month but it feels wrong to go without my precious monogrammed satchel?!

Well, who'd have thought I could keep that relatively concise after last week? What are you enjoying this week? Let me know!

Rachael
