BEAUTY // Max Factor Miracle Match Foundation (40 Light Ivory)

Tuesday 27 October 2015

Hey there!
There is nothing I dread more than trying to find a new foundation. My skin is the most horrific combination of dry, sensitive and very pale. As a result, finding a suitable foundation is not easy. I spent about 2 weeks in Boots mingling with the various brands in hopes that I could find a new base for my face. In the end, and on an impulse I may add, I ended up picking up the Max Factor Miracle Match Foundation. In short, it's a little pricey but I like it more than I expected.

I'm not an avid fan of thick foundations. Everyone raves about Estee Lauder's Doublewear but it sounds like my ideal of hell. I don't want to clog my pores with gunk, but to just colour correct a little bit where I need it (also, dry patches and thick foundation aren't friends if you're unaware - just saying). Anyway, this foundation isn't too thick or too thin. I cannot apply it with my fingers easily, but with my Real Techniques blending sponge it goes on quickly and easily in under 30 seconds. Yes - I timed it.

There were three advertising ploys that got me to buy this foundation for it's quite hefty RRP of £12.99. Firstly, it's called Light Ivory. Ivory is too dark, but porcelain to light for me. Hey - we have a happy medium here. Secondly, the addition of 'blur and nourish' to the bottle, suggesting it won't cling to dry patches too much. I can vouch for this - it's not bad at all! It does blur away imperfections and doesn't try out my skin. Thirdly, it has a pump. I love a good foundation pump. Enough said.

Are there any cons to this foundation? Well, it's price. I don't like to spend a lot on foundation and this is about double what I would usually pay (#poorstudent). However, I would seriously consider buying this again. It's a little on the thick side and so I needed to invest in a new sponge to apply it with (that's another £6 folks!). Taking this into account, that's almost £20 on a foundation. I may have almost cried.

However, it's a good shade, not too drying and obviously made for slightly drier skin. I thank you Max Factor for taking into account that not everyone has oily/combination skin. Thanks to this foundation I don't have to worry about exfoliating my face raw to avoid dry patches.

If you are looking for a thick, long-lasting, high-coverage foundation - this is not for you. However, if you want a little bit of colour correction and to feel like there's nothing on your face, I would give this a go. I am going to put off buying another until it's on offer because OUCH, but I do appreciate this foundation - a lot.

Have you tried this foundation out or have a favourite for dry/sensitive skin? Let me know!

  1. I haven't tried this one yet but when Maxfactor first came out with their second skin foundation I gave that one a go and it was perfect! The colour match was spot on and it was great for dry skin too. The only reason I didn't repurchase it was because it was £12.99 and that seemed a bit steep to me too because I didn't wear it very often. I don't think they still do that one but the Miracle Match sounds very similar!

    1. Ah, I haven't heard of the second skin one. I don't like the price (or the smell...) but it works really well. I haven't found one that works as well as this one in quite a while if I'm honest!

  2. Such a torture trying out a new foundation. I have a nightmare finding the right one each time, myself! Hopefully you can make this work for you :)
