READ // Books for the Beach Part 3 (Kindle Edition)

Friday 18 July 2014

Hello my lovelies!
Now, I love a book as much as the next person but you cannot deny how convenient having a kindle/tablet is for day to day reading. When I am on campus it is so easy just to pull my iPad out and read in a spare hour off, or do some research for a lab report if I am feeling productive. You can get books so cheaply on Kindle if the authors are not very well known and I have found some fantastic authors I have loved who sell their books for just 77p! Yes - 77p!

I thought I'd just show you a few and here they are!

The Immortal Circus - A.R. Kahler
Have you ever been so stressed that you have said that you just wanted to run away to the circus? No? Just me? Okay then. Well I wouldn't want to go to this circus. Whilst Vivienne is at the circus to get away from a past she cannot remember you will just read though this wanting to know what on earth she wanted to forget. This book is fast paced, imaginative and full of twists and turns. I was completely on my toes from beginning to end. I originally only paid £1.19 but I think it has gone up in price considerably since it has made it into the top 100 for a long period of time. It is a very good book though - I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The Spectacular Now - Tim Tharp
I hate to say it but if you like John Green and if you liked The Perks of Being a Wallflower you will very probably love this book. It's about young love and very, very realistic. I was very pleasantly surprised by this book and managed to get it for the bargainous price of 99p. It has recently been made into a film and I really want to see it! I don't tend to like books written from a male point of view but I thought this book was fantastic and even beautiful in some places (it takes a lot for me to say that!). I haven't actually seen a hard copy of this book anywhere but if you cannot find a copy in your local book store it's there to download from Amazon!

In This Moment - Autumn Doughton
Autumn Doughton is no doubt my favourite author that I have found through random purchases on Kindle. I have since bought every book she has written and loved them ALL. This book is part of the new 'new adult' genre and is based around18-20 year olds rather than 14-16 so is much more relatable than a lot of books I've read recently. Yes, it is a romance. Boy and girl fall in love, blah blah blah, but you'll want to read on so much! I could not put it down. I love the way that Autumn writes and even though everything is dramatic, everything is when you are 18 and in love (I expect). It is so realistic and you really get to know the characters and yeah, it is amazing. (See a full review here). She has a new book coming out mid August and I cannot wait!

Panic - Lauren Oliver
If you saw my first post of this series you would have seen that I mentioned Delirium (which is an amazing series). Since then I have read this book, Panic, and loved it just as much! Would you do reckless, maybe even illegal things to win a large sum of money? I do mean large sum of money. Well then, why not join Panic? When does a game become real life? When is it too dangerous to stop? Why is it such a fine line? This book is full of tension, twists, turns and I was kept on my toes. I'm not usually keen on more action-style books but this is brilliantly written and a fantastic idea!

The Runaway Princess - Hester Browne
This book is centred around a slightly older lead character but I did not care. This book is just brilliant. It is witty, heartwarming and absolutely everything I wanted it to be from the gorgeous cover. I would love to be a Princess and this book has given me the hope I need that I am not too old to give up my life time dream to become one. I absolutely adore the way Hester writes, so much that I have bought another one of her books to read on my holiday this year. You can buy paperbacks but they are so cheap on kindle you'd be stupid not to! It was funny and pretty much perfect. I love this book!

A Girl Like You - Gemma Burgess
I absolutely love Gemma Burgess. She is another author who has started writing for the 'new adult' range. This book is about a woman in her late twenties but it was so funny I did not care. After breaking up with a long term boyfriend Abigail ends up moving in with London's top bachelor who treats her how to date like a dude. Every single trick he ever teaches here blows up in her face but, not gonna lie, this is 100% my dating bible. There are so many lines that I have used before when chatted up in bars etc. that I had to read on. It is a nice long book that I thoroughly enjoyed. It ends exactly how you want it to and I want to unread it just so I can read it again. Maybe it helps that I live close to London and know so much about it but yeah, I love this. (And it is only £1.49!)

Brooklyn Girls (Pia) - Gemma Burgess
This is actually the first book I read by Gemma Burgess and it was absolutely brilliant. It is fresh, witty and relatable. Yes, I can relate to flashing my spanx to an entire bar (not one of my best moments). The language is a bit saucy, it is 100% over exaggerated and overly dramatic but it made everything interesting. If you want to see into the lifestyle of a group of 22 year olds living 'da lyf', just read this book. You will sit there in fits of laughter getting strange looks but it'll be 100% worth it. I kept sending quotes to every girl in my address book because they are that hilarious. If you want something ROFL worthy with all the ingredients of chick lit pick this up. You will not regret it!

So that is my favourite books available on the Kindle! Have you read any of these books or are going going away right now and buying them? Let me know!
