BEAUTY // Kiehl's Skin Rescuer Moisturiser

Friday 25 July 2014

Hello there!
Recently I have decided I really want to take care of my skin. I don't know whether it is due with being inspired by other bloggers or knowing I am moving to Canada where high-end skin care is so much cheaper! Either way, I do absolutely nothing when it comes to caring for my skin apart from cleansing. So I thought it was worth trying a new moisturiser. This may seem like a bit of a jump forward, spending £30 on a moisturiser, but I can explain - honestly!

Anyway, I love, love, love this moisturiser!

Kiehl's Skin Rescuer is meant to be a stress-minimising moisturiser. Including botanical extracts (and only 7 or so actual ingredients), it acts to reduce signs of stress such as dry skin and redness.

I have been using this moisturiser for 5 days now and my skin has never felt better. It is super soft and moisturised and every single dry patch is completely gone. I have never had a moisturiser work so well, so quickly before.

Now, my skin is the strangest ever. It has incredibly dry patches but is also quite oily in places and is super sensitive too. The amount of moisturisers I have had that just cause my skin to come up in red patches is crazy. I have had even more moisturisers in the past which do not even attack my dry patches and even after a month of moisturising they are still there (and horrifically visible with foundation on). I have had absolutely no issues with this moisturiser at all. None.

Sure, it is expensive, but it works! In fact, now my skin has become quite oily in comparison and I have to use powder on a daily basis. I suppose that is not ideal but I would much rather have soft, supple skin than dry patches all over my cheeks. The redness of my skin has cooled down a bit and my foundation applies much more easily and it has made, in general, make up application much nicer.

I have a huge issue with stress. Over exam season my skin flares up, I get unexplainable illnesses, aches and pains and doing a chemistry degree does not help what-so-ever. At least I know I can depend on this moisturiser to keep my skin looking in top condition.

Yes, this is an expensive moisturiser at £29.50 for 75 mL. Fortunately it comes with a pump and I use one pump in the morning and one in the evening. That is it. According to other reviews the 75 mL bottle lasts around 4 months and that is long enough for me. I am incredibly happy with this moisturiser. It has sorted out all of my skin woes and I am happy to pay that price for it. Fortunately, the lovely assistant at Selfridges said I had 28 days to try it out and if it doesn't work well I could bring it back for a refund. Unfortunatley for my bank account it will not be going back! I guess my skin can be happy at least.

So that's me finally getting onto the skincare wagon. I'm currently using a Clinque scrub too which I'll post a review of soon. I'm liking that too!

Have you used the Skin Rescuer or anything by Kiehl's? What are your favourite skincare products and tips? Let me know!

  2. I love Kiehl's, I've found that Balance Me facial oil has really helped with my dry patches but it's about £30 :(

    1. I have just tried a Balance Me moisturiser and that has sorted my skin right out (it's £2.50 with Marie Claire for a half size but £24.50 for the full size which is just double - crazy!). Why does good skincare have to be so expensive :(

  3. I've never tried anything from Kiehl's yet but I'm really tempted to after reading this! I have stubborn dry patches too that never go away, and I'm not getting much results with other moisturisers xx

    1. It's quite pricey but you do use so little! I know with other moisturisers I had, I'd use 4-5 times the amount I use now. It's the stubborn dry patches that definitely pushed me towards picking this up - they are so frustrating!

      :)
