Hey y'all!

That's right - it's gone! It's all gone! I have gone and cut my hair. I got my hair cut last in December and whilst I had asked for a lob, that's not really what I got. It was more of a mid length cut, which I liked. However, as soon as I got it cut, I had wished I'd gone shorter. On Wednesday morning I decided 'screw it - I'm going to the hairdressers and getting a hair cut' and that is what I did. I was worried it would be a bit short but I do quite like it. It took a litte getting used to but I'm happy I went for the chop!

I was very, very worried about going for short hair. I have a whole lot of face and so usually need long, voluminous locks to make it look like I actually have enough hair for my face. If I put a bit of a wave into my hair though I do get the volume and texture I need to have a good face to hair ratio (that is a thing okay - I'm jealous of you girls with slim faces who can do whatever you want!)

Currently I'm just sleeping with my hair in a tiny bun (it's too short really!), or just leaving it as it is. I love to add a little bit of salt spray to get that matte look that I know and love.  I just felt like I needed a change and this is 100% it.

Have you gone for the chop recently? How are you styling your short cut? Let me know!

  1. I cut my hair to a short, shoulder length bob a few months ago. It was a huge change seeing as I had about 6 or 7 inches taken off! I'm growing it out again now, but the chop certainly helped my hair regain some healthiness. I've been styling my shorter hair by plaiting the front sections

    1. My hair was pretty healthy (in comparison to a few years ago!) but I had a good 5 inches or so chopped off and it has been such a change! I'll have a look at plaiting the front sections - that sounds lovely for summer!

  5. You look great Rachael, it really suits you. I cut my hair to just below shoulder length last year, and I really liked it. It's much easier to add texture with shorter hair.

    1. Thank you so much! That was the length I was going for but, you know, hair shrinks when it dries haha! It is easier to add texture though - you're right!

    1. Thank you! That's the one thing I worry about - it's always going to need a trim!

  10. This totally suits you! I read somewhere that once your hair is below your shoulders it stops changing the shape of your face, so apparently if you want to have a good hair:face ratio then shorter hair is great! I'm so tempted to have a lob but I work in a bakery so I couldn't be bothered struggling to tie it back properly! I keep saying, when I'm older, I'll get it done and then I'll be sophisticated in my mid-twenties. Haha! But back to you! It's gorgeous :)

    1. Thank you! That's really interesting - I haven't heard that before but it does make sense. It is a pain! I work in a clothes store with unreliable aircon and I can't put my hair up. Sophisticated mid-20s sounds fantastic! You better do it ;)

  12. I think I prefer the short hair, suits you so well! I had my hair cut but not this short. I have a round face, chubby cheeks, and I don't think this short wouldn't look good on me. *sigh
