Hello there!
Now that the weather has gotten significantly worse over the past few weeks, I have gotten myself back into reading. It's something about rain clouds that makes me want to snuggle up on the sofa with a good book and cup of coffee. This week I had a browse on Amazon in search for my next read. I don't like to spend too much on a book because they generally last me no longer than 48 hours and for £3.49 (more than I wanted to spend but hey!) I picked up the first book in The Royals series by Erin Watt (who appears to be a pen name for two authors who write together it seems...)
The main reason I picked up this book was a review I read on goodreads. It was something along the lines of 'DO NOT READ THIS BOOK YET BUT WAIT A MONTH. I FINISHED IT IN 24 H AND NOW HAVE TO WAIT A WHOLE MONTH FOR THE SEQUEL AND CANNOT DEAL I NEED IT NOW' or something like that. I sat there thinking they were exaggerating and as it turns out, they were not. I sincerely apologise to that reviewer for thinking them to be lying scumbag because I am now sitting here like GIVE ME THE NEXT BOOK NOW PLEASE and it's not an attractive look on me.
The book is about a girl called Ella who ends up being forced to live with a stranger and his family (who are connected very tentitively to her but I won't reveal that because spoilers). They are willing to give her whatever she wants and needs with the only catch being that she cannot leave. I know, suspicious right? As it turns out, this guy's sons are complete pieces of work and put her through hell for reasons I will not tell. Does she get through it? You'll have to read to find out.
I had never heard if Erin Watt beforehand but I loved this book. It's an easy YA read but definitely for more mature readers (e.g. 17/18+). It's pretty graphic and I was a little shocked every time a saucy scene would turn up. Maybe I'm a bit of a prude but no-matter how many reviews I read that called it 'sexy' I didn't expect what I read!
Sauciness aside, I really enjoyed this book. It was a very easy read. I started very late on Monday and was finished by late Tuesday even though I was at work. The characters are interesting. The plot moves very quickly. The book is pretty darn hard to put down. It's pretty much your tough-girl forced into prep school but it's edgy and that gets a thumbs up from me. I'm sitting here and just keep thinking that I really have no idea what is going on. There are so many unanswered questions and I'm hoping the next book is going to delve a little further into everything and that this book was written simply to scratch the surface. I guess I'll find out in a month!
Do you want an easy read which will entertain you and keep you turning the page? Okay then, this is for you. Do you want a book with substance that will become a cult read for years to come? Yeah, don't bother. I enjoyed this book far more than I expected. In the words of Miranda's mother, this book was SUCH FUN.
Have you read this book? What did you think? What are you reading this summer? Let me know!
Ahh this review was perfect because it has made me totally want to read it because I want to know what happens! Thanks for sharing! :) xxx

I guess that is all you can want from a review eh? I'm sitting here like I NEED TO READ THE NEXT ONE about 3 weeks later. It's crazy.

I've got a very long reading list at the moment so I'll have to put this on it! It sounds intriguing and sometimes a lighter read is just what you need.
