LIFESTYLE // The Netflix Tag

Friday, 12 June 2015

Hey there!
I got tagged by the lovely Danielle at A Shi...pload of Polish in one of my favourite tag posts of recent - the Netflix tag! I have been taking advantage of Netflix this year due to it being cheaper in Canada ($7 and the CAD is 1.8 - £1 so it's an utter bargain!) and as a result productivity has decreased. Unfortunately I have cancelled my subscription after this month so I think this will be a nice commemorative post (because that is obviously needed).

All Time Favourite
Honestly, I use Netflix as a way of watching old childhood films that I would be embarrassed to buy in a shop. I'd say on the British version my top two would be The Last Song and The Lizzie McGuire Movie. I know - how embarrassing!

Current Addiction
Fortunately I have just finished an addiction with Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. I absolutely adored that show but it was only 8 or so episodes long. I need a new season ASAP! I chain watched Once Upon a Time for such a long time. I think I got through 2 and a half seasons in a month? Unfortunately I watched too much, way too quickly and I cannot sit and watch it anymore. It was so good as well!

Wishlist

I do wish the British Netflix had all of the Disney films like in the US. I wouldn't mind it also having The Notebook. I have bought that DVD for so many people as gifts, I just can't bear to buy another copy!

Pet Peeve
It's so annoying when they remove films/series! I really think there should be a countdown stating how many days it has left. I remember starting a series, getting half way through and it being taken down. Such a pain!

Oh, and you cannot forget the whole 'do you wish to continue?' screen. Yes, I know I am making questionable life choices Netflix but you are a website and have absolutely no right to judge okay?

Marathon Essentials
Food and plenty of it! From popcorn to sweets and cake - I cannot binge watch anything without a tactical snack pile at the end of my bed. A cat is optional but preferred.

You Should Watch
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt - written by Tina Fey (who does have a cameo!) and utterly hilarious.
Austenland - A middle aged woman goes to England to immerse herself in old English traditions (which may involve lots of actors). It's cringey but so hilarious!
Dance Academy - again, it's a little cringey but made me want to dance all over again. At only 30 minutes an episode, it's so easy to watch for hours.
Chicago - need I say more?

I now tag:
Hannah at hannatalks
Megan at London Callings
Emily at EmsAlice
Jess at Jess Will

and of course anyone else who wants to do this tag! Let me know if you do this post - I'd love to get some new Netflix recommendations!

  1. I don't have Netflix anymore as I get REALLY picky about what I want to commit to watching on there! But yes, I agree that they should have a countdown thing until they take things down.

Really need to watch Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt...everyone I know who has watched it, has loved it!

    1. I got a little bit fed up of nothing new coming on. It's going to be at least a year to a new season of Kimmy so I may have to get it for a month some time in the future!

  2. You're gonna hate me, I have never ever used netflix! I definitely feel like I'm missing out. I will make sure to try it this year though, I feel as if I am SO out of the loop with programmes! I'm not really a TV person but I'll definitely make a conscious effort to be ;) xx

  3. I just cancelled my Netflix subscription after getting fed up with the same old shows. I wish they'd put more of what's on the US version onto the UK one.

P.S. Just found your blog and love it! Following on Bloglovin'.

    1. I really do wish it was updated more often! It did get so boring after a while!

  4. I wish they also warned users when they were going to remove a show. It sucks when they change something I've been watching. We don't have as many choices here in Canada as the USA either, but it's getting better.

    1. The Canadian Netflix is a little bit of a mix between the American and UK ones but did get boring quite quickly! I only had it in the end because it was cheaper than back home!
