FASHION // NEW IN : New Balance

Friday, 4 September 2015

Hey there!
For so long (okay 18 months) I have wanted a pair of New Balance sneakers. I have been a Converse girl since I was 12 and haven't varied far from that trainer-wise. I have a pair of Vans and Toms but the New Balances seemed that bit more expensive (coming from the girl who has never paid full price for a pair of Converse).

Anyway, my trusty stars and stripes Converse that got me through the entirety of undergrad labs got completely and utterly ruined after getting stuck in a thunderstorm and I was in need of a new pair of lab shoes. I decided that now was the right time to invest in some NB sneakers. It just felt like the right move.

Drama aside, I ended up ordering a pair from Urban Outfitters in their sale. I have rather large feet and so I ordered the Mens version of the 574 which fit perfectly. There are some perks to having abnormally large feet it seems.

I like the chunkier type of the 574 in comparison to the slimline 420. I did try the 420 on but they made my feet looks massive whereas these ones actually make my feet look small. Strange huh? What I didn't realize is that the grey detailing is actually silver and is reflective like the back of high-vis jackets. At least I know I'll be seen on my walks home in the winter!

Overall, I really like these trainers. I feel like I need to break them in a bit but they are pretty comfortable anyway. I wouldn't say walking on a cloud but definitely more comfy than a ballet pump. I'm just super happy I can walk around with this reflective N symbol flashing at everyone I pass. Now I need to save up and buy a burgundy pair. I can see that this obsession will become an issue.

Have you got any New Balance trainers? What style have you got and how do you wear them? Let me know!

I have some Converse but need the time to break them in, as I really want to wear them but can't at the moment :(

    1. Oh no! Just wear thick socks and wear them around the house! I have never had to break in Converse before but I only have the old style ones. It will happen!

  6. Ohhh I like these New Balance sneakers! My Converse All Stars are also coming to an end, so I'm in search for a new pair of sneakers as well! They would look awesome with black ripped jeans!

  10. I've loved the look of New Balance trainers for a while, but I'm so confused by the whole number thing and don't know if I can justify the price! Love the colour of these though :) x

    1. It's just different styles as far as I'm aware. The bigger the number the chunkier they are it appears (although I'm very likely wrong!). I'd just try them on and see which ones you like the look of - the number doesn't matter.

  13. I bought a pair of NB when I was in the UK because they're way cheaper than in Spain - even with the GBPound / Euro currency!! - and I love them. They're absolutely destroyed now as I used them A LOT but I plan on buying another pair. They're so worth it and comfy. Pretty pretty!

    1. Really? That surprises me! Some styles are ridiculously expensive but I got them in the sale so they were, fortunately, a lot more reasonably priced. Check out ASOS for NB trainers. They do free international delivery (but of course you have import charges) but often have them on sale too. You may be able to get another bargain!

  21. You're a girl after my heart!! I'm longing for a 420 black and white pair but I ordered a 6 (my usual size) and they were so tight its unreal - so god knows what size I should go for! Maybe I should give UO a go, i'd only thought to check out Office. I do loooooooove these though xxx

    1. They made my feet look MASSIVE I mean, I don't have small feet and I'm not a small girl but I looked entirely unbalanced as a whole. These ones were a much better match for me. I'd go into Office or somewhere and try all the styles on and then wait patiently for flash sales. I paid £40 for these in the UO sales but they are still £65 on ASOS and Office. Talk about lucky!

  22. I use to be a sneakers girl, heck I love my sneakers but they've worn out to nothing anymore and I just haven't gotten around to buy a pair. These look so comfy and so cool, I'd love to get a pair for myself!

BY THE WAY, I don't know why I haven't followed you on bloglovin' yet! I love your blog! Following you right now <3

    1. It took me a good 4 months between my last pair dying and me getting these ones. They are such an investment really - you don't want to spend money on a pair to find you don't like them 3 months down the line!

Oh, and thank you! I had no clue you weren't either! Better late than never ;)
