BEAUTY // L'Oreal Color Riche La Palette Eye Shadow Riche Rose

Monday, 21 September 2015

Hello there!

Today I share with you a single purchase I made on the plane when I went to Corfu. I was tempted by the big reduction from the RRP to find that it isn't actually sold for that much on the high street but I got it for an okay price anyway so it doesn't matter! I have had a little obsession with eye palettes recently (see my collection here, here, here and here). I like the rose gold tones in the Naked 3 palette but I have quite a cool complexion and it doesn't seem like the type of colour palette that would suit me. However, this rose toned palette was a much more purse friendly and I thought 'hey - why not try something new!'

The palette is full of pink and pink toned shadows that you can mix and match to, apparently, create 1001 looks. I perhaps wouldn't go that far but there is plenty to play around with. There's a nice mix of shimmers and mattes ranging from pale pinks and peaches all the way down to smouldering lilacs and greys for a night out.

The packaging is sleek and chic. The glossy black snap shut case compliments the gold text really well. The palette is absolutely tiny, less than half the size of a Naked palette, making it ideal for travelling. Sure, it's small. You don't get that much eyeshadow. It's an absolute bargain at £10 though - that's just £1 an eyeshadow! 10 eyeshadows that compliment each other well that is. Of course, a mirror and a brush is included in the kit too. I'm not keen at all on the brush and actually use a different one most of the time. It has a padded end and a brush end, neither of which are particularly to my liking. They do the job though - that's for sure.

All the colours blend quite well, although perhaps not as pigmented as I'm used to from other high-end palettes. However, this one did appear to show more promise than other high-street palettes I have personally tried (e.g. Maybelline The Nudes). However, this sort of problem can be fixed with  a good primer and layering each shadow until you get the desired effect. It can just take a little more time (okay, a lot more time for some of the shadows. It's hard work if I'm honest).

Overall, do I like this palette? Yes I do. I'm not too certain the colours are right for my skin tone but I'm glad I didn't get an expensive palette to try the rose trend out, but I will continue to use this one.  I have tried other L'oreal palettes which have shown much better texture and pigmentation in comparison to this one. Sure, this is a wider range of shades (you get 10 after all - not 4!) but I think I'd rather pay a little more to get a higher quality shadow.

Would I recommend you buy it? Well...there are plenty of cheaper high-street palettes from brands like MUA and Makeup Revolution to name a few. This one certainly isn't super cheap and I'd be tempted to go for a cheaper alternative.

Have you tried this palette? What were your thoughts? Let me know!

  1. Never tried any L'Oreal eyeshadows but these shades are all so lovely, it reminds me a bit of the Naked palette! x

    1. I won't lie, that's why I picked it up! It was a little disappointing but the price helps with that just a little bit!

  3. I wanted to swatch this when I went into Boots but it was all sold out! I do love the look of the shades too, it has a nice mix. It's a shame the quality isn't the best but when you point out it's £1 per eyeshadow it actually seems a lot more affordable than £10 a palette :)

    1. I'd avoid it if I were you! I tried to photograph swatches but had no luck. Maybe if I put them on top of white eyeliner they'd look a little better. For a high street palette there are better prices out there (sorry L'oreal!)

  7. 1001 looks?! That's mental haha! The palette isn't a bad price at all, and the colours sound gorgeous and pigmented. I love the purple one at the end! xxx

    1. It must be an exaggeration! If you used all 10 shades at a time maybe !

  8. Oh, I don't know if I'll get the palette even though the shadows are gorgeous. I feel like I'll stick to my Naked palettes, because it's quality over quantity. Though for one pound a shadow, it's such a steal!

  13. I think that a lot of the time individual drugstore eye shadows are great, but for whatever reason, when they release an eye shadow palette, the quality is not amazing. I really like the shades included though, seem to compliment each other very well.

    1. I don't know why they do it - it's just frustrating! I guess it's what you get for having colours that match well!

  18. Ooh this is so pretty! I really like it :) I love eyeshadow palettes too. There's a cheaper version of the naked one somewhere, think they sell it in TK Max and Outfit which is nice. But I have the Naked Palette 1 and I just adore it. I want the second one so badly! You should do some make up looks with this new palette to get use to it :)
