Hey y'all!
After a couple of horrifically rainy days in LA which forced us to consider to pay $12 for an umbrella, the sun finally showed it's face. It was exactly what I had wished for. In the morning I met a lovely tv writer and his dog before watching Pitch Perfect 2. A walk down to Hollywood and Vine, reading all of the Walk of Fame stars I could, led to a pitstop in a whiskey establishment who had a wonderful happy hour. If LA taught me anything, it is probably that drinking during the day is apparently okay. It is the only place where I actually sat down and had a drink during my entire trip.
Jameson's whiskey pub was my idea of heaven. Two large whisky slushies for $9? Yes please! I tried to book a ticket to a baseball game but dodgy websites giving good prices aren't always to be trusted. In the end, I didn't want to pay the $40 to get a ticket from Stub Hub. If anyone wants to take me to a baseball game in the future, feel free!
The one thing that I don't think I have managed to get across, is that Hollywood Boulevard is such a surreal place. You can walk through the Walk of Fame and bump into Spiderman or Captain America who are acting up to get as many tips as possible. If you go into the grounds of the Chinese Theatre you can be a complete tourist and look at your shoe/hand size in comparison to some of your favourite actors and actresses. It's absolutely crazy to think that I have stood in the same place as so many of my idols and really is special when the sun is shining.
Tip: be careful with your camera when it comes to the street and all of the street performers. Even if you take a candid shot, the actors will try and get a tip from you (and rightfully so!) Try and be sneaky and you might get away with it. I literally ran from the guy dressed up as Frank n Furter. It was not my classiest moment.
The day before my flight home, my sister and I decided to move closer to the beach. I loved Hollywood but I also wanted to see the sea. We moved into a hotel airport, which was significantly closer to Venice and Santa Monica beaches than Downtown LA was. Everything is just so relaxed on the beach and I am just dying to go back. I'd have stayed further down if I could but it was just far too expensive. At least I know for next time - beach please!
After spending a couple of days by the sea, sipping cider and pretending I had money, I eventually had to fly home to London. I had to leave the sunshine (although not for long) and the relaxed lifestyle and return to work and suitcases to unpack. Fortunately there is one last post in this series, so this isn't over quite yet! Keep your eyes peeled for the final instalment!
Have you been to LA? What are your favourite spots? Let me know!
LA is the one place I'd love to visit!
