Recently my self restraint when it comes to shopping has been appalling. I spent a ridiculous amount of money Downtown before I flew home and even ended up buying a new lipstick in Duty Free before my flight home and I never do that! However at $19 total, equalling to approximately £10.50, I couldn't help myself picking up a new MAC lipstick. The sales assistant complimented my nails and asked if I had gotten them done professionally. Man, sales assistants know how to get me to get my card out! I need to work on that.
Dubonnet is a gorgeous dark red. I have been looking for a dark red, rather than a purple/wine shade, for quite a while and I kept going back to Dubonnet. It is part of the Amplified range so whilst it doesn't have the staying power of a matte lipstick it is much creamier and I don't worry about it drying out my lips at all.
It applies so easily without need of a lip liner or lip brush with minimal bleeding and does last a good 3-4 hours without eating. I'm currently wearing it as a day lip, with minimal eye, but I can't wait to pair it with a feline flick or shimmery, neutral smokey eye this year!
Have you tried Dubonnet before? What are your favourite ways to wear it? Let me know!
Loved this post!
ReplyDeleteI'd never heard of this shade before, it looks super pretty!

It's surprisingly wearable too! I've had it for about three weeks tops and I've already used it so much!

This is such a nice colour, I haven't really branched out into the darker shades yet but I want to, this is such a good price as well! You HAD to get it at that price ;)

I LOVE lipsticks from MAC. I've never tried this one before, but I love the color! <3

It's definitely worth having a look for! I saw it floating about on a few blogs and I'm now so glad I picked it up!

I've got such an irrational fear of dark lipsticks! I only own one and don't get nearly as much wear out of it as I should. I might have to have a little look around the MAC counter on my next trip out though - justified by the fact that I recently lost my only lipstick from there. Sad times! Also - how cheap is £10.50 for a MAC lipstick? That must be one of the perks of studying in Canada.

You didn't lose one?! That would be my worst nightmare! It took me forever to get into lipsticks but about two years ago I started going nuts!

Love this lipstick colour it's gorgeous! And I know what you mean about sales assistants! They complimented me on my lipstick before and started showing me lipsticks that would suit me! They can be so sneakily persuasive at times but I'm not complaining, I love MAC!! Xx

Oh yeah, it's awful! I had the girls in Sephora ask me if I'd had a make over in store because my make up looked lovely. It was so awkward to go 'oh, it's just a £3 Rimmel lipstick' when their average lipstick price is about $30!

I love dark shades of lipstick and Mac always has good ones, like this one.

It's so hard to have any self restraint at this time of the year though. You've been so generous with gifts for other people, why can't you treat yourself haha?

This sounds gorgeous, I'd love a proper dark red lipstick so maybe this will be it! x
ReplyDeleteELEANORMAES
It's definitely a dark red! I absolutely love it - I'd keep an eye out if I were you ;)
DeleteI love this colour! Don't you love how much cheaper MAC products are in Canada too? I've splurged so much whilst I've been here and I only arrived last month! I bought Dark Side and that's a really nice dark red but I've found it doesn't stay on as long as the matte ones, but it is a creme one so I wasn't surprised too much!
